Special interest groups (SIGs)

Special interest groups (or SIGs) are a way of helping people with similar interests, concerns and skills get together to work towards achieving more accessible outcomes for students and staff of Australian universities.

If you have an idea for a SIG, please contact Iza.Bartosiewicz@rmit.edu.au. Generally SIGs are only successful where there is a good deal of interest in a topic and where SIG co-ordinators are prepared to take an active role in stimulating and monitoring discussions.

Specific challenges exist in meeting web accessibility standards when using the web to support teaching and learning. The online publication of course materials is increasing, along with the use of learning delivery platforms such as Blackboard and WebCT.

The WANAU eLearning SIG provides a forum for university staff and students who have an interest or stake in ensuring that learning and teaching content, together with the delivery platform, is accessible.

This SIG aims to increase awareness in the area of elearning accessibility and provide a means of discussion, collaboration and exchange of ideas, techniques, and resources in this area.
